<p dir="ltr">Value chain analysis of rice production in Thailand focusing on economic value. Political climate understood with the help of Gereffi’s governance concept, Kaplinsky & Morris’ barrier to entry concept, Romagnolo & Bourdieu’s power concepts and Bolwig’s socio-economic lens. Areas analysed encompasses the value-chain governance for rice farmers, rice policies, production standards, monarchy, culture and religion and international aid. Some brief food policy recommendations at the end on potential intervention points to redistribute value to targeted farmers.<br></p><p dir="ltr">This document was produced as an assignment for the FPM002 Political Economy of Food module undertaken at the Centre for Food Policy, City St Georges, University of London.
